We had a wonderful time last week volunteering at our Charity of the Quarter, Flatirons Habitat for Humanity. We spent the day working at one of Habitat’s new builds at 22nd and Violet in Boulder, CO. We had beautiful weather…and a beautiful view! We always enjoy volunteering with Flatirons Habitat for Humanity as it allows us to help others while also challenge ourselves.
We started our volunteer day with an instructional talk from our project manager, Devin. After he gave us the agenda for the day, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work! One half of our team started the day by hauling boards up to the second floor to start laying the subfloor, while the others worked on fixing some beams that needed adjusting. The second half of the day consisted of getting the subfloor put in place, building stairs and putting up panels that will soon be walls!
What is the mission and purpose of Habitat for Humanity? They partner with the people in our community – and across the world – to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With the support of volunteers, partners, and donors, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build better lives for themselves and for their families. We encourage you to learn more about this amazing charity.
Flatirons Habitat for Humanity have been following CDC guidelines in response to Covid-19. See their response to the pandemic HERE.
Our agency has proudly selected Flatirons Habitat for Humanity as our Charity of the Quarter for April, May and June. Read more about what this means in our earlier blog post. Thank you, Flatirons Habitat, for making a difference in our community!
