Members of our RSS team had the privilege of volunteering in the Food Bank of the Rockies distribution center last week to help get food packed up for those in need in our community. Specifically, the RSS ladies helped box up enough food to provide 7,775 meals for seniors and Aaron and Darin packed almost 10,000 pounds of food for food orders to be delivered to partner agencies in the Denver metro area.
Our community needs Food Bank of the Rockies more than ever! The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the food insecurity issue throughout Colorado and Wyoming and they are now providing enough food to serve nearly 300,000 meals a day!
Food Bank of the Rockies has an immediate need for volunteers, so that they can continue providing food assistance to our community as well as their partners.
Unfortunately many of FBR’s regular volunteers have been forced to stay stay home due to Covid-19 concerns, and with uncertainty around work and pay during this pandemic, the need for consistent volunteers is more critical than ever in FBR’s ability to respond.
FBR needs HEALTHY individuals and groups to continue helping them provide food to those facing hunger in our community. They have increased safety measures to protect volunteers and are limiting volunteer shifts to fewer than 50 people per shift. Volunteers will be split into small work teams throughout the warehouse to increase social distancing and masks are required for all volunteers.
